In dit laatste Global Wealth Report van kredietverzekeraar Euler Hermes (onderdeel van verzekeraar Allianz) kunnen we het netto financieel vermogen per hoofd van de bevolking zien. In 2020 was de regio Oost-Europa (+19,1%) de groeikampioen, gestimuleerd door inflatie en een sterk herstel in Rusland. Het werd gevolgd door Azië (exclusief Japan) met +12,7% en Noord-Amerika met +11,6%. Voor het tweede jaar op rij noteerde de rijkste regio ter wereld groeicijfers die vergelijkbaar zijn met opkomende markten.
De ontwikkeling op de lange termijn geeft echter een ander beeld. Als we de bevolkingsgroei en de inflatie in aanmerking nemen, is Azië (exclusief Japan) de onbetwiste groeikampioen, waarbij de financiële activa per hoofd van de bevolking sinds 2000 gemiddeld meer dan vervijfvoudigd zijn. Dit is even snel als in de twee andere opkomende regio’s, Oost-Europa en Latijns-Amerika.
